One moment he is pulling out his Warhammer, ready to take down Jack and in the next he is aware that something has gone terribly wrong. There is a pain in his chest - white hot and intense and unlike anything he’s ever felt before. His head bows and without realizing it, he puts his hands to his chest, fingers trembling as his knees buckle. He can’t bring himself to look because he knows what he’ll see - he can feel the blood sticking to his palms and fingers and the damp spot that is rapidly blooming across the front of his shirt. He falls to the ground and takes a shuddering breath - the very movement pulls at the fresh wound and sends agony lurching through his every nerve. Dimly he registers that he can almost taste the black rain mingled with his own blood in the back of his throat. He wonders if he’s dying - really dying this time - before everything goes dark.
