john, jade, jake and jane cosplayers you’ve gotta stop doing the teeth-completely-over-your-bottom-lip thing
that is not how an overbite works, unless i’m mistaken! buckteeth don’t work that way either. trust me, i have one and had the other. thanks to 5+ years of dentistry/orthodontia work that isn’t much of an issue anymore.
when you have an overbite, your front top teeth don’t align with the teeth on the bottom— so your teeth fall along the INSIDE of your lip and pass your bottom teeth completely (in an unnatural way), not the outside, like this. buckteeth are typically also not over the lip, though they do protrude more than an overbite!!
for the sake of aesthetics and not looking completely ridiculous in a photo, my suggestion is to just smile as large as you can or try to force a small overbite. it’ll look less… strange in the end. trust me. trying to imitate hussie’s rendition of dental variety “perfectly” isn’t a good choice.

I make fake buckteeth for my John cosplay and it works really nice! Using Denture glue that you can get at your handy Walmart (Brand name is Fixodent, you’d want it non-color/clear) And some fake nails! C: file them to shape and BAM! got some nice choppers. Now excuse my messy unstyled wig and horrid glasses lol but as you can see…
they just kind of chill there~ I wouldn’t think someone who has natural buckteeth would want to make them oh so more obvious. You know? And i’ve had people actually ask me if I did have natural buckteeth ;AAA; which made me happy(because it looked real *A*) but at the same time, I would cry if i actually did have buckteeth ;A;.
But everyone should try this technique, I see a lot have caught on to it lately and it makes me very happy c: although it’s a but of a task to keep in full top and bottom rows of teeth like my my karkat here. (again please excuse my derp)
i would advice to carry your glue with you and a handy tray for your teeth. (because if you get them out of order, you might want to cry) I use a nail case (like the plastic trays that come with press-on nails. It lets me know what tooth goes on what tooth. Since they are sized to my own teeth) C: AND MAKE SURE YOU EAT SOMETHING BEFORE YOU PUT THOSE TEETH IN, because i’m sure once you take them off to eat something. You probably don’t want to do it again ;A; it’s so tedious but totally worth it!
